Address to Fellow Alums – Saif Qureishi, President – IIMBAA

My dear fellow alums,

The duration and period of time that we spent at IIMB may be different, and so may have been the experiences, but there’s a common thread running through all of us:  the institute, with its majestic architecture and green forest cover, which has formed the background of all our learning, sharing and experiences. Every time I return to IIMB, I wish I was still a student and had the luxury of just taking those late evening walks with friends, or just sitting and sipping chai or something stronger around the various watering holes around the campus.

I also wish to share some news about our IIMB Alumni Association. Almost after 45 years of the establishment of the institute, the alumni now have control over the Alumni Association, with 4 of the 5 trustees being alumni, in comparison to the earlier trustee board made up entirely by the institute. This seminal moment was possible because of the faith that our present Director, Prof Raghuram had in us, and on behalf of the Alumni Association I wish to thank him for the same.

Many of you may be aware that our signature event, the third edition of IIMBue – the IIMB Leadership Conclave is to be held on 20th and 21st of July 2018 and I hope that you will register for the same at www.iimbue.com, if not already done. More than 850 alumni are expected to participate in this event, making it a wonderful time to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. The theme this year is “Sensing the Future”, and we have a high powered speaker list which includes well known personalities like Ms Nirmala Sitaraman (Minister of Defence, Govt. of India), Mr Suresh Prabhu (Minister of Commerce and Aviation, Govt. of India), Dr Hasmukh Adhia (Finance Secretary – Revenue, Govt. of India), Sadhguru (New York Times bestselling author and Padma Vibhushan awardee) and many more (check the speaker list on our website). IIMBue has emerged as ‘the’ leadership conclave in South India and we as alumni should be particularly proud of it, because it is completely organised by our IIMB alumni, for our IIMB alumni. I hope that all of you reading this will register for IIMBue and hope to see you there.

With best wishes and warm regards.

Saif Qureishi (PGP ’88)

President – IIMBAA
