IIMB Commemorates 75th Republic Day

On January 26, 2024, the IIMB community celebrated Republic Day with fervor, uniting in patriotic spirit. Director Rishikesha T Krishnan emphasized the institute’s dedication to Constitutional values, highlighting democracy, justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, human dignity, secularism, and national unity.

Reflecting on the previous year’s Republic Day address, Krishnan lauded the successful celebration of IIMB’s Golden Jubilee, marked by notable events and alumni reunions. He reiterated the institute’s commitment to sustainability, noting advancements in solar energy adoption, which now fulfills 20% of campus power needs.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations featured insightful talks emphasizing Constitutional values’ relevance in contemporary society. Professor Rebecca Henderson urged a purpose-driven approach beyond profit, stressing the imperative for global action on climate change. The Honorable President of India advised students to combat inequality and uphold ethical standards for a harmonious future.

Krishnan expressed gratitude for the valuable guidance and hoped for its realization in the institute’s endeavors. As the day concluded, the IIMB community renewed its pledge to uphold Constitutional ideals, echoing the sentiment, “Jai Hind.”


IIMB SPIC MACAY Hosts Yamini 2024 Showcasing Classical Music’s Finest Talent

On January 25, 2024, Bengaluru witnessed the grand spectacle of “Yamini 2024,” a collaborative effort between IIM Bangalore and SPIC MACAY, celebrating Indian classical music and culture. As part of IIMB’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations, this marked the 20th edition of the event, a cherished tradition on the eve of Republic Day.

Renowned artists graced the stage, enchanting the audience with their mesmerizing performances. Padma Bhushan awardee Begum Parveen Sultana captivated with her Hindustani classical vocals, while Padma Shri A. Kanyakumari mesmerized with her mastery of the Carnatic violin. Margi Madhu showcased the ancient Sanskrit theater art of Koodiyattam, carrying forward a legacy of millennia.

Pravin Godkhindi, an innovative bansuri flautist, blended Hindustani and Carnatic influences, while the Malladi Brothers illuminated the stage with their harmonious Carnatic vocal renditions. The event, a cornerstone of Bengaluru’s cultural calendar, welcomed all enthusiasts to revel in the rich tapestry of classical music.

As the dusk turned to dawn, the melodies lingered, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended this extraordinary celebration of heritage and artistry.


Navigating Sustainable Futures: Insights from IIMB’s Drishti 2024 Summit

IIM Bangalore’s Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) concluded its two-day flagship Annual Leadership Summit, Drishti, on January 19, 2024. Themed ‘Fostering Innovation for Growth & Sustainability,’ the summit convened industry leaders, professionals, and students to explore sustainable innovations shaping the future.

Keynote speakers, Member of Parliament Shri Tejasvi Surya and wellness coach Shri Gaur Gopal Das, addressed vital sustainability issues. Organized by the PGPEM batch, Drishti showcased a fusion of business, technology, art, culture, and academia, envisioning an inclusive future society.

Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore, stressed the importance of integrating sustainability into business strategies, emphasizing the holistic approach of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks.

The summit, featuring panel discussions, workshops, and case competitions, drew participation from industry leaders, 150+ colleges, and 100+ companies. Discussions delved into sustainable industry practices and the pivotal role of innovation in fostering ecological harmony.

In his address, Shri Tejasvi Surya advocated for comprehensive urban mobility solutions, highlighting the necessity of integrating Metro and bus systems to combat traffic congestion in Bengaluru.

Industry leaders from Siemens, E&Y, AstraZeneca, Manipal Hospitals, and others shared insights on sustainability and innovation. The PGPEM program, a globally ranked E-MBA for working professionals, continues to lead in fostering sustainable business practices.
