IIM Bangalore Inaugurates Rooftop Solar Power Plant

IIM Bangalore has inaugurated a rooftop solar power plant, supported by National E-Governance Services Ltd (NeSL), which will meet approximately 15% of the institute’s power needs.

Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean of Alumni Relations & Development, emphasized the institute’s commitment to sustainability and the aspiration to meet most of its power requirements through solar energy. He noted, “Our collaboration with NeSL helps promote sustainable living and renewable energy use.”

Prof. Haritha Saranga, Chairperson of the Sustainability Taskforce, highlighted IIMB’s pioneering sustainability efforts, especially in the face of global climate challenges. Ashok Chandra, Executive Director of Canara Bank and an IIMB alumnus, praised the institute’s environmentally conscious initiatives and alignment with NeSL for sustainable practices.

Debajyoti Ray Chaudhuri, MD and CEO of NeSL, expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes of their projects with IIMB. The event was moderated by G Siva Koti Reddy, Manager of Security & Transport, with a vote of thanks from Utanka Sarma, Head of Alumni Relations.

The solar power plant initiative aligns with IIMB’s vision of fostering environmental awareness and sustainable living.


IIM Bangalore and Deakin University Forge Strategic Partnership for Academic Excellence and Research Innovation

Bengaluru, 23 April 2024: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), India’s premier business school, and Deakin University, Australia, have entered into a strategic collaboration to elevate academic standards and drive research innovation.

Signed during a senior leadership meeting at the IIMB campus, the agreement aims to enhance international cooperation through initiatives such as faculty exchanges, student mobility programs, collaborative research projects, workshops, and executive education. This milestone partnership involves key figures including Prof Jenni Lightowlers and Prof Colin Higgins from Deakin, alongside leaders from IIMB like Prof Mukta Kulkarni and Dr Ananth Krishnamurthy.

Prof Lightowlers highlighted, “This partnership facilitates not just student mobility but also a robust collaboration between Australia and India, merging knowledge and cultures to advance education and research.”

The collaboration promotes faculty, student, and researcher exchanges, joint research endeavors, and educational programs, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. This initiative underscores both institutions’ commitment to advancing education and research excellence globally.

The Student Affairs Council (SAC) of IIMB’s two-year full-time MBA program hosted ‘Aabhar’ at the campus Amphitheatre, celebrating the contributions of student committee members and club leaders. Occurring on the eve of the 49th Convocation, the event honored their dedication in organizing various activities during their tenure.

Under the twinkling fairy lights of the Open-Air Theatre, students and parents gathered to hear insightful words from Director Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, who reminisced about his own student days and emphasized the value of community-building through events. Prof. Rahul DĂ© expressed gratitude to parents for their support, while Prof. Dinesh Kumar advised living in the moment. Prof. R Srinivasan highlighted the pivotal role of student leaders in the Student Trust.

Certificates were presented to committee and club leaders, with special recognition for administrative offices. The event underscored the spirit of collaboration and leadership fostered at IIMB.
