IIM Bangalore Celebrates 49th Convocation
IIM Bangalore celebrated its 49th Convocation on April 6, 2024, with Chief Guest Shri T V Narendran, CEO & MD of Tata Steel, addressing the gathering. A total of 706 students graduated from various programs, including the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program and the MBA programs. Among them, eight students were awarded gold medals, including three women.
The Institute introduced the Institute Research Award for a graduating PhD student, along with other convocation awards. The newly introduced award includes a cash prize of INR 1.75 lakh, a certificate, and a memento.
During the ceremony, Chief Guest Shri T V Narendran emphasized the importance of adapting to geopolitical changes, technology, sustainability, and climate change. He urged the graduating students to keep abreast of these changes and their impact on their careers.
Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Dr. Devi Shetty, congratulated the Institute on its achievements and encouraged the graduating students to consider entrepreneurship. He stressed the importance of purpose in one’s actions, the need for reinvention, and expressing love and gratitude to parents.
Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore, highlighted the Institute’s achievements, including an increase in admissions for PGP and PGP-BA programs and the launch of a Professional Certificate in Hospital Management program for doctors and hospital administrators.
The convocation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduating students as they completed their academic journey at IIM Bangalore and embarked on a new chapter in their lives.
