01 November, 2020, Bengaluru:  Vista, IIM Bangalore’s Annual Business Summit, has been a celebration of ideas and leaders that shape the face of business and the global economy for the past two decades. Vista 2020 is celebrated with the theme “Portraits of Progress”, which focuses on capturing the evolving nature of businesses. Day 1 of Vista saw an amalgamation of competitions, events, workshops, and activities that encompasses all the focus areas imaginable within the domain of business and management.

Vista 2020 was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Prof. Abhoy K Ojha, Dean Programmes IIMB, and Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, PGP Chair, IIMB, inaugurated the fest and delivered the keynote address as part of the opening ceremony.

The day started with a panel discussion on “COVID-19 Reset: Retool and Rebuild ” moderated by Prof. Sourav Mukherji, IIMB, featured Nikhil Prasad Ojha, Partner, Bain & Company, Ronojoy Dutta, CEO & Whole-time Director, Indigo Airlines, and Arun Rajappa, Partner Director for PM Microsoft India Development Centre. The panel discussed the role of government and various industries in resetting the status quo post-COVID-19. 

Mr. Shiv Khera, author of “You Can Win”, educator and business consultant, delivered a speaker session on “Turning Setbacks into Comebacks”. “There is a connection between learning and earning. People who learn more, earn more,” says Mr. Shiv Khera who shared his thoughts on coping up with the current crisis, preparing for success and wins and motivating oneself and others. Vivek Chandra, Director and Head of Business, Middle East and Africa, ITW Consulting, spoke about “Career for all in Sports Industry” and how a day job in sports is a dream for millions.

A speaker session by Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Professor, Chicago Booth School of Business and Ex-Governor, Reserve Bank of India was held which was moderated by Prof. Rupa Chanda, RBI Chair Professor, IIM Bangalore. Dr. Raghuram Rajan talked about fiscal prudence, central bank independence, economic growth trajectory in times of Covid and how India can become the manufacturing hub of the world in the coming times with the right kind of monetary and fiscal intervention. 

Art of Advertising workshop conducted by Mr. N Ramamoorthi, President, Ogilvy South, shared insights on how to create an effective marketing campaign that increases brand memorability and can help a product or service succeed even before launch. Data Analysis using Power BI workshop conducted by Mr. Mohamed Yousuf, Director of Excel Prodigy, taught participants the importance of data analytics and Power BI. Mr. Karthikeyan Haldurai, Manager, Google Search Ads 360, conducted a workshop on Digital Marketing in India. The Art of Growing Business using LinkedIn by Mr. Sachin Sharma, Director, Marketing Solutions, LinkedIn, shared ideas on how to grow businesses using LinkedIn. Business Storyboarding workshop by Salt & Sambar highlighted effective ways to visualize ideas, map customer journeys, and select the most important elements of an idea.

With events ranging from participants building an ideal workplace for women in Impetus, coming up with innovative and unconventional uses of household objects in Thinking Out of the Box, testing the abilities of new-age marketers in MarkGuru, identifying outstanding proposals offering novel investment strategies in Impact Investor, developing new ways to reduce their environmental footprint in Ecolution, and forming creative and effective solutions to strengthen the domestic industries in Nirmaan,  Vista witnessed a lot of diverse events on its first day of the summit. Quizmaster Venkatesh “Venky” Srinivasan, quizzed participants in Bizarre, IIMB Vista’s Open Business Quiz. The day ended with a fun and entertaining cultural night.
