CASE CO-AUTHORED BY DR. SANKARSHAN BASU IS NAMED BEST CASE BY AIMA
A case study written by Prof. Sankarshan Basu of IIM Bangalore and Prof. Prabina Rajib of VGSoM, titled āISPRL Managing Indiaās Sovereign Crude oil Price Riskā, has been named āBest Case in the AIMA ICRC Case Writing Competitionā.
Abstract of the case: Countries with limited domestic crude oil production capacity depend heavily on import. Increase in crude oil price drags GDP down due to increased import bill. Higher crude import bill also has spiralling impact on domestic inflation. In addition, geo-political disturbances also create supply bottleneck impacting crude oil availability. To manage crude price risk and smoothen crude oil availability, IEA has mandated member countries to maintain strategic reserve of 90-days of crude oil inventory. Understanding the need of energy security, the Government of India incorporated Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL) in 2004 to focus on the energy security. To maintain crude oil inventory, ISPRL has constructed underground rock caverns at three places in India to store crude oil. Creation of physical infrastructure associated with strategic storage facilities requires not only huge upfront investment but also requires huge investment in buying and storing crude oil. Hence, this case covers different aspects of creation, maintenance of these strategic reserves and help in quantifying the impact of crude oil price increase on GDP when countries do not have strategic reserve.

The Financial Times Executive Education Rankings for 2022 published its list of Top 50 Global providers of Executive Education, on May 23rd. IIMB has been ranked among the Top 50 providers of Executive Education globally in the FT Executive Education Ranking for 2022. The international recognition for IIMBāsĀ Executive Education ProgrammesĀ comes in the backdrop of two hard years where business schools, as well as working professionals and companies, had to face several challenges in the wake of the pandemic.
Commenting on the continued success of IIMB in global rankings, G. Credited with designing some of the iconic buildings in India such as IIM Bangalore, Cept University in Ahmedabad, Aranya Low Cost Housing, Indore among many others, the 94-year-old acclaimed architect Balkrishna V Doshi, received one of the worldās highest honours for architecture ā Royal Gold Medal 2022, on May 10th.
The prestigious medal is given in recognition of a lifetimeās work that had a significant influence on the advancement of architecture.
