The India Rankings (NIRF) 2022 results were announced on July 16th, 2022. IIMB has retained its #2 position in the Management category and is just a whisker behind the #1 (IIMA).

IIMB has earned an overall score of 82.62 and is ranked at # 2 (only 0.73 difference with rank # 1). 

IIMB has scored 100% in parameters on faculty-student ratio, metric for university examinations, facilities for physically challenged students, and employers and academic peer perception.

Moreover, IIMB has scored the highest in parameters on financial resources and utilisation, foot prints of projects, professional practice and executive development programs, and peer perception.

DR. Rishikesha T Krishnan is the Ram Charan Chair Professor in Innovation and Leadership

Dr. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIMB, and Professor in the Strategy area, has been named the Ram Charan Chair Professor in Innovation and Leadership.

The Ram Charan Chair Professor in Innovation and Leadership has been instituted by Mr. Harsh Mariwala, Founder and Chairman of Marico. The objective of this Chair is to support the advancement of research and teaching, offer Executive Development Programmes in Innovation and Leadership, and disseminate research through publications, seminars, and workshops.

DR. Sankarshan Basu is Dean of Amrut Mody School of Management

Basu, who was working as a professor of Finance and Accounting at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore for the past two decades, completed his Honours (Statistics) from Presidency College, Calcutta, MSc (Statistics) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and PhD (Statistics) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, the UK. He has been the Director-PRMIA on the board of Federal Bank from 2020, and a founder-member and Secretary of the Indian Finance Association (IFA) since 2015.

IIMB Congratulates Prof. Allen P Ugargol for receiving prestigious ICMR-Professor Surindar Mohan Marwah Award for 2020

Prof. Ugargol, who is Chairperson of the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management, receives award for research work in the field of ‘Ageing and Geriatric Care in India’

The ICMR-Professor Surindar Mohan Marwah Award was instituted in 1993 by Professor Surindar Mohan Marwah, Varanasi. This award is conferred upon a scientist for the research work carried out in the field of Geriatrics. 

The award includes a certificate along with e-citation, from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). About Dr. Ugargol’s research, ICMR says: “His research on ageing and geriatric care potentiates academic understanding of the demographic transition: it disentangles geriatric care needs, discovers care constraints, tests the resilience of familial inter-generational contracts, situates the ‘care gap’ within notions of aging in place and highlights policy implications of population ageing in India.”

DR. Gopal Naik appointed Jal Jeevan Mission Chair

Dr. Gopal Naik, Professor in the Economics & Social Sciences area has been appointed as the first Jal Jeevan Mission Chair in Utility Development & Water Economics.

IIMB  was nominated by the National Jal Jeevan Mission, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, to host (one among the five) Jal Jeevan Mission Chairs to carry out high quality empirical and applied research in rural drinking water and sanitation sector to address sectoral challenges and facilitate in the achievement of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ and ‘ODF Plus’ in rural India.

The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched by the Prime Minister of India on August 15, 2019, to enable every rural household to have Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2024.

NS Vishwanathan appointed to IDRBT Governing Council

Former RBI Deputy Governor and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Public Policy at IIMB NS Vishwanathan has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Governing Council of IDRBT for a period of three years effective July 18.

IIMB Prof guest edits special issue of global journal

Prof. Deepak Chandrashekar, from the Strategy area at IIMB, has guest edited the Special Issue on ‘Competitiveness of High-Tech Start-Ups and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems’ published in International Journal of Global Business and Competitiveness (JGBC):


In addition to leading the guest editorial team for this special issue, Prof. Deepak Chandrashekar serves on the editorial board of JGBC.

Prof. Kirankumar S Momaya is Editor-in-Chief, JGBC and Prof. M H Bala Subrahmanya is the Consulting Editor of the special issue.
