NSRCEL Startups Rise Up to the Covid Challenge
A host of innovations in telemetry and oxygen management have helped hospitals during the pandemic
Ever since the second wave of the pandemic broke out two months ago, several groups and individuals have been providing solutions for the treatment of covid. Among them are many startups based in Bengaluru that have been at the forefront of innovations in oxygen management, helping patients and hospitals.
Dockcare is one such mobile app built for remote patient monitoring. It empowers patients with a simple tool to monitor their illness at home. Dockcare is a launchpad initiative by NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL), an IIM-B’s startup incubation centre.
The symptoms and vitals help doctors make decisions and give true data-driven personalized care to their patients. Dockare has helped 2,000+ patients take video consultations and home isolation packages and recover from the safety of their homes. “The key is to provide the right treatment at the right time. We need to
educate patients to monitor themselves and connect to a doctor only when they need one,” said Dr. Sai Shankar, co-founder of Dockare, a pediatric intensivist and ECMO specialist from Bengaluru.
Shweta Shastri, co-founder of Dockare, said that the app’s alert system has helped detect early deterioration and escalate care thereby improving outcomes.
Another startup in this area is Corvid Systems, a telemetry technology company incubated at the Women Startup Program of NSRCEL. They have developed a remote monitoring solution to monitor the level of liquified gases stored in cryogenic tanks in real time and help logistic departments to make proactive decisions and refill tanks timely and efficiently.
Their solution, Corvid Gas Level Monitoring system (Corvid GLM), includes an electronic hardware (Corvid Device), mobile app and web app.

“Our solution is assisting India’s largest Liquid Medical Oxygen supplier and other suppliers to remotely monitor oxygen tanks in hospitals across India. Corvid Devices, installed in the hospitals help to gather the level and pressure of oxygen tanks in real-time. Corvid
GLM uses this real-time data to trigger alerts and notifications, generate daily oxygen consumption reports etc which helps suppliers to distribute the oxygen stock to multiple hospitals efficiently and maintain the oxygen tanks at sufficient levels round the clock. Our solution is also used in monitoring other industrial gases such as Liquid Nitrogen, Liquid Argon, Liquid Carbon dioxide, Liquid Nitrous Oxide in various manufacturing industries, food and beverage industries etc across India,” said Shikha Bhargava, co-founder and director, Corvid Systems.
