Indian Architect Balkrishna Doshi Wins Royal Gold Medal 2022

IIM Bangalore congratulates Dr. Balkrishna V Doshi architect of its iconic campus for receiving the 2022 #RoyalGoldMedal – the UK’s highest honor for architecture.

RIBA said that with a 70-year career and over 100 built projects, 94-year-old Doshi has influenced the direction of architecture in India and its adjacent regions through both his practice and his teaching.

Buildings he has designed include the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology in Ahmedabad, a number of cultural spaces in Ahmedabad such as the Tagore Memorial Hall, Institute of Indology and Premabhai Hall, and a private residence, Kamala House, in Ahmedabad. Doshi is also responsible for Ahmedabad’s famous underground art gallery Amdavad Ni Gufa, a cave-like structure that has a roof made of interconnected domes, covered with a mosaic of tiles.

The architect also designed Indore’s Aranya low-cost housing project in 1989. It currently accommodates over 80,000 individuals.


iD Fresh raises ₹507 crore from NewQues

Food products company iD Fresh Food on Tuesday announced the closure of its â‚¹507 crore Series D funding round led by NewQuest Capital Partners. Existing investor Premji Invest also participated in the round.

The capital will help the firm, which sells packaged idli and dosa batter since 2005, foster product innovation, build capacity and expand its presence across key markets in India, the UAE and the US.

The company is also set to launch its products in Singapore and Malaysia.


Anusmaran 2021 – Pune Chapter
