In this video, Dr. Raghavendra Rau (PGP 1987-89), Sir Evelyn de Rothschild Professor of Finance, University of Cambridge, and recipient of IIMB’s Distinguished Alumnus Award 2022, describes the joys of an academic career. An outstanding scholar, teacher, mentor and role model to young scholars, Dr Rau says he still derives a great deal of intellectual pleasure talking to the IIMB faculty about research in general, and his work in particular.
IIMB alumnus appointed Chief Adviser Cost to the Government of India
IIM Bangalore is proud to announce that the school’s alumnus Umesh Kumar Shukla (PGPPM 2007-09) has been elevated to the post of ‘Chief Adviser Cost’ in the Government of India, in Level 17 in the Seventh CPC Pay Matrix (Secretary equivalent), with effect from January 01, 2022.
The Chief Adviser Cost (CAC) is the Cadre Controlling for the Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS), which advises the Ministries and Government Undertakings on cost accounts matters and undertakes cost investigation work on their behalf. The office of CAC deals with matters relating to costing and pricing, studies for determining fair prices, studies on user charges, cost-benefit analysis of projects, studies on cost reduction, cost efficiency, appraisal of capital intensive projects, profitability analysis and application of modern management tools evolving cost and commercial financial accounting for Ministries/Departments of the Government of India.
Scripbox raises $21 million in funding round led by Accel Partners
Online wealth manager Scripbox, founded by Atul Shinghal PGP 1993, has raised $21 million in debt and equity, in a funding round led by Accel Partners.
Transpose Platform, DMI Alternative Investment Fund through The Sparkle Fund, InnoVen Capital, Trifecta Capital, KPB Family Trust, LetsVenture, Kube VC, and YY Capital LLC participated in the fundraising, as did angel investors like MakeMyTrip founder Deep Kalra, Freshworks CTO Shanmugam Krishnasamy, and Dell Technologies India MD Alok Ohrie.
The Bengaluru-based company plans to use the funds to bolster its new product verticals, expand its customer base and partner with more independent financial advisors.
Yami Gautam Starrer ‘A Thursday’ produced by Premnath Rajagopalan (PGP 1988) to release on 17th Feb 2022
Actor Yami Gautam Dhar-starrer A Thursday is set to make its debut on Disney+Hotstar on February 17, the streaming platform announced.
The thriller is directed by Behzad Khambata and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Premnath
Rajagopalan, who also unveiled the trailer of the movie.
The trailer of the movie looks very promising and the premise is indeed very intriguing. The alumni community wishes that the movie is a big success.
Multistarrer web series based on Ravi Subramanian’s “The Bestseller She Wrote”
Shruti Haasan has been signed as the lead for an Amazon Prime web series. The show is inspired by author Ravi Subramanian’s (PGP 1993) bestseller ‘The Bestseller She Wrote’ and Shruti is extremely kicked about the project.
The show will also star Mithun Chakraborty, Shruti Haasan, Arjan Bajwa, Gauahar Khan, Sonalee Kulkarni, Satyajeet Dubey in exciting roles. The show is directed by Mukul Abhyankar and will release on 18th Feb 2022.
The series inspired by Mr. Subramanian’s book is yet another feather in the cap and reaffirms the great work he has done in the world of Indian literature. We wish you all the best.
