Karan Bajaj’s venture WhiteHat Jr. acquired by BYJU’s for $300 million

Karan Bajaj’s (PGP 2002) entrepreneurial venture WhiteHat Jr. is making headlines in the business world. The acquisition of White Hat Jr has got everyone talking for its multiple facets – an 18-month old startup made one of India’s largest and fastest venture exits with an all-cash deal of $300 million, and Bajaj being one of the major shareholders of the company made a sweet fortune.

Amit Kumar Tyagi, PGP 2010, appointed as the new CEO of ApnaComplex. Amit takes over the position from Raja Sekhar Kommu who has been promoted as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company.

Vikrant Pande, PGP 1992, translation of Girish Kuner’s ‘Tatas, The Family that built a Business and a Nation’ won the Gaja Capital Business Book prize 2019.

Vikrant translates for the passion of getting Marathi bestsellers to the national stage. He has translated Ranjit Desai’s Shivaji the Great and Raja Ravi Varma, NS Inamdar’s Shahenshah, The Life of Aurangzeb and Rau, The Love Story of Bajirao Mastani and Milind Bokil’s Shala. Many of them have been made into national award-winning movies based on the Marathi original.

Prof. Aswath Damodaran, an alumnus of IIMB 1979 and Professor at NYU Stern School of Business gave a masterclass to address various aspects of finance and living with the COVID situation. The session comprised of a masterclass followed by Q&A discussion.

E-Commerce in India: Economic and Legal Perspectives by Pralok Gupta

Pralok Gupta, FPM 2011, has written an interesting and informative book on the evolving dynamics of the e-commerce industry. The book presents a comprehensive analysis of the economic and regulatory aspects of the e-commerce sector by assessing the trends and characteristics and addressing the issues and challenges associated with it. The issues and challenges addressed in this book frequently appear as discussion points in policy debates, research forums and popular media. However, information on these is scant and often scattered. This book bridges gaps in the available literature on e-commerce.


Gauri Jayaram, MPEFB 2013, was presented with the award of Iconic Leaders Creating a Better World for All by the Women Economic Forum in a function held at Bangalore on 25th-26th July 2020.

Gauri is the Founder of The Active Holiday Company, which offer unique active holiday trips. The company is a leader in designing running, cycling, walking and winter holidays.

Chalees Charlies – Batch of 1980-82

The Batch of 1980-82 celebrated 40 years of commencing their journey at IIMB together. They all met for the first time at the Langford Road Campus on 4th July 1980. The batch gathered virtually to mark this day. The event was attended by 51 batchmates and called it a meeting of Chalees Charlies.


Revival and Resilience: How NSRCEL ran special mentoring, incubation and online events for startups during the pandemic

NSRCEL has conducted over 45 events for startups over the past few months and assisted dozens of startups with incubation support. NSRCEL has onboarded 60+ startups since the impact of COVID in the country.
