IIMB Announces Alumni Service Award Recipients for 2025

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is delighted to announce the recipients of the Alumni Service Award (ASA) 2025.

Instituted during IIMB’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2023, the Alumni Service Award honours alumni who have made exceptional contributions to the Institute and the alumni community. The awardees are chosen through an open nomination process, followed by evaluation by a Selection Committee comprising IIMB Faculty, Officers, and Alumni.

This year’s awardees will be felicitated on IIMB’s Foundation Day, 28th October 2025, with each recipient receiving a citation in recognition of their service.

Alumni Service Award Winners 2025

Navin Kumar (PGP 1999)

Navin Kumar comes with 30+ years of rich and varied experience working in national and international markets both as an entrepreneur and as a corporate leader in the tech & talent services space. Over the years, Navin has continued to engage with both his alma mater and the IIMB Alumni Association (IIMBAA). He has been an adjunct/visiting faculty at IIM Bangalore for many years. Navin was also the convenor for IIMBue 2016, IIMBAA’s flagship leadership conclave. Later on, he worked on the idea of an online version of IIMBue, which took the form of IIMBueX during the Covid years. As Vice President of IIMBAA during 2018-2019, he helped establish several policies for laying the foundation of the IIMBAA Trust workings. IIM Bangalore cherishes the continued help and support that he has extended to the institute and to the alumni ecosystem.

On winning the award Navin quoted:
“This award is a celebration of the bonds we share as a community. I feel privileged to give back to the institute that gave me so much. I’m grateful to the alumni community for the trust and support that made this recognition possible.”

Karan Bhagat (PGP 2001)

Karan Bhagat is a first-generation entrepreneur who has remained deeply committed to giving back to his alma mater and strengthening its legacy of leadership and impact. He is the Founder, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of 360 ONE, a leading wealth and asset management company in India with over INR 664,000 crores in AUM.

Karan has made significant contributions to IIM Bangalore, supporting the institute’s mission to nurture future leaders and make a lasting impact on management education and research in India.

As part of the IIMB alumni network, Karan has been a strong supporter of IIMBue, the IIMB Alumni Association’s flagship leadership conclave that convenes global changemakers, thinkers, and visionaries. He has championed the platform since its inception, recognising its role in fostering dialogue that shapes the future of business and society.

Through his financial contributions, active engagement, and thought leadership, Karan has demonstrated an enduring commitment to IIM Bangalore and the wider alumni community and embodies the spirit of service and lifelong connection that the Alumni Service Award celebrates.

On winning the award he said:
“I am truly humbled to receive this award. IIM Bangalore was a transformative journey, instilling in me the courage to take risks, the discipline to persist, and the conviction that purpose must guide ambition. True to its vision, Tejasvi Navadhitamastu, I have sought to put learning into action to create impact. This award is both an honour and a reminder to keep evolving, building, and giving back, while making my alma mater proud.”

Michael Sequeira (PGP 2010)

Michael Sequeira works as a Legal Officer with Sanctuary Group and is based in England. Mike, as he is known by his classmates, has visual impairment and belongs to the PGP Class of 2010. Mike’s journey was instrumental in helping IIMB better understand the needs of students with disabilities and led to the establishment of the Office of Disability Services (ODS) in 2010 — the first of its kind at any IIM.

Mike was placed on campus with Wipro, and in 2012 received the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, conferred by the President of India. As an alumnus, Mike has consistently supported the institute, offering his time, expertise, and mentorship to students with disabilities. His guidance has been practical, encouraging, and deeply impactful.

He helped build the Stars of IIM Bangalore group — a platform for knowledge sharing, and collaboration between alumni and current students with special needs. Additionally, he conceived “ODS Connect”, an alumni-led series that amplifies the voices of graduates with disabilities, positioning IIMB as a leader in campus inclusivity.

Mike’s pioneering work in diversity and inclusion has been recognized by his employers. His unwavering commitment and meaningful contributions make Michael Sequeira a truly deserving nominee for the Alumni Service Award.

On winning the award he says:
“I am elated to hear the news. Receiving an award from my alma mater is always special and to be recognized for something that is so close to my heart — volunteering my time to make a difference to our students over these many years is always appreciated. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the selection panel and to everyone who supported my nomination.

One of the most transformative moments during my time at IIM Bangalore was the establishment of the Office of Disability Services (ODS) in my graduating year. I had the privilege of contributing to ‘Stars at IIM Bangalore,’ an alumni network that supports the ODS. This network has since grown to more than 150+ members to become a vibrant and engaged community that supports students with disabilities.

This award is a celebration of the collective impact of everyone who has been a part of these initiatives. I look forward to this recognition inspiring many more alums with disabilities to serve the institute and contribute their time, efforts and talents.”

Congratulations to the Awardees!

IIM Bangalore warmly congratulates Navin Kumar, Karan Bhagat, and Michael Sequeira on receiving the Alumni Service Award 2025, and thanks them for their outstanding contributions to strengthening the IIMB community.
