IIMB Archives

The IIMB Archives were formally launched in digital form on 6 February 2026, marking a significant milestone in preserving the Institute’s institutional memory. Conceived in 2017, the Archives aim to document IIMB’s evolution through curated records, photographs, audio-visual materials, publications, and artefacts. The repository traces the Institute’s founding in 1972, its inauguration in 1973, and its growth into a leading global management institution. A key component is the Oral History Project, capturing first-hand narratives from individuals who shaped IIMB’s formative years. The Archives also document the Institute’s Golden Jubilee outputs and its engagement with the broader business and civic ecosystem of Bengaluru. Designed as a dynamic and research-oriented platform, the initiative seeks to illuminate developments in management thought, institutional growth, and regional transformation, while serving students, faculty, alumni, and scholars.

Purple Manthan

The convening underscored the need for simplified public services, institutional accountability, and scalable models of inclusion to ensure meaningful participation and equity for persons with disabilities.

PGPPM Policy Talk Series

The PGPPM Policy Talk Series at IIM Bangalore hosted a session titled “XVI Finance Commission: What It Means for India’s Cities” on 18 February 2026, examining the evolving framework of urban public finance. Delivered by experts from the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, the session explored how intergovernmental transfers, performance-linked grants, and incentives for own-source revenue can strengthen municipal fiscal capacity. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of Finance Commission transfers in funding essential urban services such as water, sanitation, and waste management, particularly for smaller cities. The revised grant architecture aims to improve fiscal discipline, predictability, and accountability within urban local bodies. Participants engaged in dialogue on strengthening state–municipal fiscal relations and enhancing institutional capacity to manage increased transfers effectively. The series continues to provide a platform for evidence-based discourse on contemporary governance challenges.
