Vikas Purohit (PGP 2002) to Spearhead New Business Ventures at The Times of India

Vikas Purohit, a PGP 2002 alumnus of IIM Bangalore (IIMB), has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly established New Business Ventures division at The Times of India (BCCL). This strategic move reflects the media giant’s commitment to exploring and capitalizing on emerging growth opportunities in the evolving media landscape.
In his pivotal role, Purohit will lead the development and execution of innovative business initiatives for The Times of India. His responsibilities encompass identifying high-potential ventures, formulating robust strategic plans, and overseeing their successful implementation to create sustainable and profitable businesses.
Purohit brings over two decades of rich experience spanning e-commerce, digital transformation, and business strategy. His recent role as Director & Head – Small Business Group at Meta India involved empowering millions of small businesses with digital tools. He has also held significant leadership positions at Tata CLiQ Fashion, Amazon Fashion, and other leading retail organizations.Purohit’s extensive experience is expected to be instrumental in shaping the future growth trajectory of the organization’s new ventures.

Shyam Unnikrishnan to Lead Bain & Company India

Global management consulting firm Bain & Company has announced the appointment of Shyam Unnikrishnan, a PGP 2009 alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), as its new Managing Partner for India, effective April 1, 2025. Unnikrishnan, based in Bengaluru, brings nearly two decades of global consulting experience, having worked across Bain’s offices in Sydney, Atlanta, and New Delhi.
In his new role, Unnikrishnan will spearhead Bain India’s growth strategy, talent development, and overall operations. He previously led Bain’s Innovation & Design practice in APAC and holds leadership positions in the Retail, Consumer Products, Strategy, and Digital practices. His extensive expertise spans full-potential transformations, market-entry, sales acceleration, customer experience enhancement, and more.
Unnikrishnan succeeds Parijat Ghosh, who will take on the role of leading Bain’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice in the APAC region, also effective April 1, 2025. Ghosh has been instrumental in Bain India’s success and his deep expertise in the healthcare sector makes him ideally suited for his new regional leadership role. The appointment of IIMB alumnus Unnikrishnan to lead its India operations underscores Bain & Company’s commitment to leveraging top talent in the region.
