Faculty Lounge Named After Prof. C Manohar Reddy During Guru Purnima Celebration
Celebrating Professor Manohar Reddy: IIM Bangalore’s Special Guru Purnima Event
On the 31st of July, IIM Bangalore orchestrated a meaningful event to honor the enduring legacy of Professor Manohar Reddy, known for his dedication to inquiry and discourse. The gathering encompassed former and current faculty members, four Deans, alumni, and staff who united to pay tribute.
Commencing with a comprehensive presentation on the Institute by Director Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, the event progressed with an introduction to IIMB’s Golden Jubilee celebrations by Prof. Abhoy K Ojha, the Chairperson of the Golden Jubilee Committee. The climax was the official inauguration of the Faculty Lounge, proudly named in honor of Prof. Manohar Reddy.
The occasion also served as a moment of farewell for Prof. Ramaswamy P Iyer, an esteemed member of the Finance & Control faculty from 1975 to 1988. Prof. Iyer, who passed away on July 28, 2023, left a lasting impact on institution-building. His roles as Finance Area Coordinator, Admissions Committee Member, and PGP Hostel Warden highlighted his commitment. Active in MDP and Consultancy assignments, he was fondly remembered by fellow faculty members and alumni.
In a later segment, Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan honored former faculty members with a special memento—an elegantly framed postal cover commemorating the school’s illustrious fifty years, issued by India Post.
The evening of July 31st was gracefully hosted by Prof. Sourav Mukherji, the Dean of Alumni Relations and Development, encapsulating the profound gratitude and reverence for IIM Bangalore’s luminaries.
‘HR Business Conclave’ Hosted by IIM Bangalore’s Career Development Services on July 12th
IIM Bangalore’s ‘HR Business Conclave’ on July 12th marked its Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The event, themed ‘Value Creating HR: Innovative Best Practices in Talent Sustainability and Employee Experience,’ served as a dynamic platform for HR leaders to share and learn from best practices. Post-Covid, HR leaders have emerged as crucial drivers of business sustainability, innovative practices, and the seamless integration of technology.
The conclave encompassed engaging talks on various fronts including innovative labor economics, hyper-personalization of employee experiences, metaverse for learning, and technology-enabled employee mental well-being. Diverse panel discussions explored key topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as the evolution of innovative practices and people-oriented processes.
Prof. Debolina Dutta and Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan’s insights added depth to the event, underscoring its significance. The conclave culminated with a gracious thank-you note from Ganapathy Lakshman Sharma, Sr. Manager of CDS, followed by invaluable networking opportunities and a guided campus tour for participants. This event truly encapsulated IIMB’s commitment to shaping a future-ready HR landscape.
VISTA 2023: Annual Business Summit Hosted by Two-Year MBA Students on July 8th & 9th
In celebration of the institute’s Golden Jubilee, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore’s Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and PGP in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) students hosted a special edition of their annual business summit, Vista, on July 8th and 9th, 2023. With over 65,000 registrations, Vista, one of India’s largest business fests, proved its premier status for innovation and knowledge exchange. Over two days, the event saw 1,000-plus participants, including 400 students from 100 top colleges across India. Visionary leaders like Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, and Navya Naveli Nanda, Co-founder & CEO of Aara Health, shared insights, making Vista a comprehensive platform for emerging trends, disruptive models, and innovative strategies. Notably, the Global Social Responsibility Challenge united 1,600 teams globally, showcasing Vista’s commitment to addressing societal challenges through business acumen. The event celebrated both ideas and art, solidifying Vista’s reputation as a premier B-school business confluence.
Justice N. Santosh Hegde delivers CPP Foundation Day Lecture
On July 10th, as part of the CPP Foundation Day Lecture Series, Justice N. Santosh Hegde, Former Judge, of the Supreme Court of India, delivered the 5th lecture. The lecture, titled ‘Decline in Social Values in the Society and its Consequences,’ was hosted by the Centre for Public Policy (CPP) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).
“I have worked in several institutions during my career, but once I became the Karnataka Lokayukta, I witnessed the sufferings of people due to corruption and bribery at different levels of administration. I speak on falling social values and their consequences because of that experience and I wish to bring such matters to the notice of the people, and in doing so I have visited 1672 educational institutions”, said Mr. Hegde.
Dhanyawadagalu 2023: IIMB’s Vikasana Honors Staff Workers
Vikasana, the esteemed social impact society of IIMB, organized “Dhanyawadagalu 2023” on July 6th, as a warm expression of appreciation for the dedicated support and service rendered by the Institute’s staff workers. Dr. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, personally presented heartfelt gifts to each of the staff workers, acknowledging their valuable contributions.
