IIMB Celebrates a Historic Influx of 531 Students to PGP and 75 Students to PGP in Business Analytics, with Over 30% of the Batch Being Women

On June 12, 2023, IIM Bangalore joyously welcomed the incoming batch of students for its esteemed two-year full-time MBA programs, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) for the 2023-2025 session. The inauguration event marked a historic moment as it witnessed a record-breaking number of students, with 531 joining the PGP and 75 enrolling in the PGP in Business Analytics. Notably, over 30% of the batch comprised women, reflecting the institute’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

During the event, the esteemed Chief Financial Officer of SBI Cards, Rashmi Mohanty, an IIMB alumna from the PGP batch of 1995, delivered a special address. She shared her academic and career journey, emphasizing the importance of hope, courage, and embracing one’s passion for success. Rashmi Mohanty encouraged the students, particularly women, to break the glass ceiling and prioritize their choices with conviction.

The evening also featured the felicitation of distinguished alumni awardees for 2023, including Ashok Reddy (PGP 1995), Abhijit Roy (PGP 1991), and Samina Bano (PGP 2010). The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognized their exceptional achievements and contributions in various fields.

The orientation program, scheduled from June 13 to 17, will allow the new students to interact with faculty members, senior officials, and alumni, providing valuable insights into the programs, administrative matters, and IIMB’s diverse offerings.

With the enthusiasm and determination of this diverse and talented cohort, IIM Bangalore eagerly anticipates a fruitful and transformative journey for each student as they embark on a path of learning, personal growth, and positive impact.


MOU Signed Between Data Centre & Analytics Lab and Cauvery Nature Cure Centre for Naturopathy Research

Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore collaborates with Cauvery Nature Cure Centre for Naturopathy Research. Located in Pallipalayam, Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu, Cauvery Nature Cure Centre focuses on promoting wellness through a holistic approach, emphasizing healthy lifestyle practices such as a balanced diet, yoga, and stress management.

Dr. U Dinesh Kumar, Chairperson of DCAL and Dean of Faculty in the Decision Sciences area at IIM Bangalore, explained that the research aims to analyze how Naturopathy effectively treats lifestyle-related diseases. The team from DCAL will work closely with doctors at Cauvery Nature Cure Centre to collect and analyze data for this purpose.

According to Dr. Masilamani, Founder and Managing Director of Cauvery Nature Cure Centre, Naturopathy serves as an excellent preventive care approach, potentially reducing reliance on allopathic drugs for secondary care in common diseases. Despite the growing number of Naturopathy clinics in India, the empirical evidence of its effectiveness remains to be proven.


IIMB and CII Unveil ‘Karnataka@100: A Vision Document for 2047’ on June 12, 2023

IIM Bangalore (IIMB) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly unveiled ‘Karnataka@100: A Vision Document for 2047’ on the morning of June 12, 2023, at the IIMB campus. The report launch was conducted by Dr. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, and Mr. Ramesh Ramadurai, Managing Director of 3M India Ltd, and former Chairman of CII Karnataka State Council.

Mr. Ramdurai expressed his enthusiasm about the occasion, sharing that it held personal and professional significance for him. Recalling his last visit to the IIMB campus as a student participating in an inter-IIM business plan contest 39 years ago, he expressed joy in returning to the wonderful campus. Professionally, he highlighted that the document is an initiative of CII – India@2047 – serving as an overarching vision for the country. He emphasized that such visioning exercises act as guideposts, and as they progress on their journey, specifics will be refined and revised. He lauded the document for encompassing compelling themes and being built on the pillars of sustainability and innovation.


NSRCEL Hosts Founders’ Meetup in Kochi and Hyderabad

In June, NSRCEL organized a series of Founders’ Meetups in Kochi and Hyderabad, bringing together a community of entrepreneurs from various sectors and stages. At IIIT Hyderabad, entrepreneurs had the opportunity to interact with Silpa Reddy, Founder of Honest Milk Company, and Yeshoda Karuturi, Co-founder and CEO of Hoovu Fresh, as they shared insights on maintaining the essence of one’s business and strategies for revenue and growth hacking.

The engagement continued at Kerala Startup Mission, Kochi, where Hinshara Habeeb, Co-founder of Manetain Store, discussed the significance of storytelling and community building for startup founders. This session was followed by valuable guidance from Shalini Chhabra, Managing Partner of 3i Partners and Mentor at NSRCEL, who shared essential insights on fundraising.
