IIM Bangalore Collaborates with National ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ to Support Local Industries
In alignment with the nationwide celebration of ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ last month, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, IIM Bangalore actively participated by organizing a Khadi ‘Utsav’ on October 16. The Central Pergola area hosted stalls from 10 am to 5 pm, dedicated to promoting Khadi, handloom, handicrafts, village industries, One District One Product (ODOP), and other locally sourced products. This initiative, carried out under the banner of ‘Vocal for Local,’ was a testament to IIMB’s commitment to supporting indigenous industries. By embracing the spirit of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by the Government of India, the institute aimed to contribute to the self-reliance and economic empowerment of local communities. The Khadi ‘Utsav’ served as a platform to showcase and celebrate the rich diversity and craftsmanship of local products, fostering a sustainable and locally-driven economic ecosystem.
