BPIM-Dubai: Exploring Global Business Dynamics with IIMB Faculty Leadership

The BPIM-Dubai program, led by IIM Bangalore’s Finance & Accounting faculty, Prof. M Jayadev and Prof. Debojyoti Das, offered participants a unique opportunity to delve into Dubai’s dynamic business ecosystem. Held in December 2024, the program combined expert-led sessions and industry interactions, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the UAE’s economic landscape.

The program commenced with an insightful session by Ms. Sherin Nazeer, Agile Release Train Lead for Digital Technology and Innovation at Etihad. She shed light on the aviation sector’s significant contribution to Dubai’s GDP, its catalytic role in boosting tourism, and the sector’s projected growth in the coming years.

In a subsequent session, Prof. Arijit Sikdar from the University of Wollongong, Dubai, explored the complexities of ‘Doing Business in the UAE.’ His detailed analysis highlighted the challenges and opportunities within Dubai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, offering valuable perspectives on fostering global collaborative partnerships.

The BPIM-Dubai program, through its blend of academic expertise and real-world exposure, empowered participants with actionable insights and strategies to navigate the global business landscape effectively.


‘Hum Ek Hain’: IIM Bangalore Celebrates Inclusion on World Disability Day

IIM Bangalore, in collaboration with From Mug to Mike, marked World Disability Day on 3 December 2024 with the launch of the inspiring anthem ‘Hum Ek Hain’. Composed by Sunil Koshy, the song celebrates inclusion and diversity, spreading the powerful message that “we are all one.”

The launch event, held on campus, was led by Prof. Rajluxmi V Murthy, Chairperson of Student Welfare and faculty member in the Decision Sciences area. The event brought together specially-abled singers, students, staff, and faculty, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration. Singers who contributed to the anthem shared their experiences of recording and performing for the accompanying music video, adding a personal touch to the event.

IIM Bangalore’s Office of Disability Services (ODS) continues to play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive environment by breaking barriers and promoting accessibility. With initiatives such as the ‘Equal Opportunity Policy’ and ‘Reasonable Accommodation Procedure’, as well as the use of assistive technologies, the institute ensures that all students have equitable access to education and resources.

Recognized with the NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award in 2012 for its impactful inclusion framework, IIMB remains dedicated to creating a campus culture that values diversity. The ‘Hum Ek Hain’ anthem is a testament to the institute’s unwavering commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable community.


IIMB Celebrates Karnataka Rajyotsava with Heritage and Tradition

On 6 December 2024, the IIM Bangalore campus came alive with the spirit of Karnataka Rajyotsava, celebrated under the aegis of the Staff Recreation Committee (SRC). The event, a cherished tradition at IIMB, honored the state’s rich heritage, language, and cultural legacy.

Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, IPS, Director of the Kannada and Culture Department, Government of Karnataka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. An accomplished poet, fiction writer, and translator, Dr. Malagatti captivated the audience with her reflections on the origins of Kannada, its historical depth, and its evolution. She emphasized how Kannada thrives through its connection to cultural frameworks and highlighted the collective role of the community in sustaining its global relevance.

The celebration featured a vibrant kamsale performance, adding a traditional touch to the festivities. A specially curated lunch at the campus canteen further enriched the experience, offering flavors that resonated with Karnataka’s culinary heritage.

Dr. Malagatti was felicitated by Prof. M Jayadev from the Finance & Accounting area, Col. SD Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer, and SRC President Komala Devi, in recognition of her contributions to Kannada literature and culture.

The Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations at IIMB continue to reinforce the institute’s commitment to preserving and celebrating the state’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
