IIMB Commemorates 75 Years of India’s Constitution on Constitution Day

IIM Bangalore celebrated the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution with a special event honoring National Constitution Day, or Samvidhan Divas. The occasion reflected on the enduring legacy of the Constitution, adopted on November 26, 1949, as the cornerstone of India’s democracy and its guiding values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and a reading of the preamble. Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the Constitution’s role in shaping India’s democratic principles and fostering equity.

The highlight of the day was a lecture by Prof. (Dr.) V. S. Elizabeth from NLSIU Bangalore, who spoke on 75 Years of the Indian Constitution and Ambedkar’s Vision of Equality. She delved into Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s transformative ideals and their relevance in contemporary India.

The event also featured a Constitution-themed quiz that engaged participants from the IIMB community. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Col. (Retd.) S.D. Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer, IIMB, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the Constitution’s role in India’s progress.
