Dr. Rama Jayasundar Highlights Ayurveda’s Evidence-Backed Legacy in Lecture on Wellness

In a lecture titled “Ayurvedic Framework for Wellness” on 15 November 2025, Dr. Rama Jayasundar, Professor and Head of the NMR and MRI Facility at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, emphasized that Ayurveda is a living tradition grounded in documentation, evidence, and centuries of continuous practice. She noted that the rising global burden of diseases and the limitations of conventional medicine have led to renewed interest in Ayurveda as a complementary and holistic approach to healthcare.

Dr. Jayasundar explained that allopathy and biomedical sciences, though vital, may not be sufficient to address the growing scale and complexity of modern health challenges. Ayurveda, she argued, offers a broader framework for wellness—one that integrates preventive care, lifestyle, and individualized treatment.

Her lecture underscored the need to recognize Ayurveda not merely as an alternative system, but as a valuable, research-supported component of global health discourse.
