On February 15th, 2024, the Economics area of IIM Bangalore held a fireside chat featuring Nobel Laureate Prof. Michael Spence. Chaired by Prof. Manaswini Bhalla, the session welcomed esteemed guests including Rohinton P. Medhora, Robert Johnson, and Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan.

Sustainability Taskforce Organizes Art Contest on Sustainability for Middle School Students from Samhita Academy

The Sustainability Taskforce at IIM Bangalore recently welcomed 235 students from The Samhita Academy, a middle school in Bangalore, aiming to inspire sustainability through an art competition. Led by Prof. Haritha Saranga, Chairperson of the Sustainability Taskforce and faculty at IIMB, the team conducted environmental sensitization sessions at the school from October to December 2023, fostering understanding of mindful consumption for a sustainable future, with the art contest being part of the program.

On February 16th and 23rd, 121 Grade 6 students and 114 Grade 8 students visited the IIM Bangalore campus. Immersed in the campus environment, they engaged in creative expression, guided by the theme of mindful consumption. Using brushes and palettes, they depicted the significance of conscious choices in environmental preservation.

The artworks ranged from vibrant portrayals of eco-friendly practices to thought-provoking representations of the consequences of unsustainable habits, showcasing their insights and imagination.

Dr. Haritha Saranga emphasized instilling sustainability as a way of life to empower students for informed decisions. Through such collaborative efforts, IIM Bangalore reaffirms its commitment to nurturing future leaders proficient in business acumen, dedicated to positive societal and environmental impact.


Prayaas Day 2024: Promoting Social Impact with Free Prosthetic Limb Camp and Sustainable Synergies Summit

Prayaas, the social initiative of IIM Bangalore’s EPGP students, collaborated with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti for the ‘Free Prosthetic Limb Camp’ on February 18th, 2024, as part of Prayaas Day. The camp provided custom prosthetics, benefiting over 130 individuals, with 26 receiving prosthetic limbs and 107 receiving wheelchairs, amounting to a donation worth INR 12,26,000. Prayaas aims to deliver life-changing interventions to the underprivileged and foster a sustainable ecosystem. Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti is renowned for its global rehabilitation efforts.

Prayaas also hosted the ‘Sustainable Synergies – Shaping the Future Together’ summit, gathering stakeholders to discuss sustainability and social impact. The summit featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and speaker sessions by industry experts. The event concluded with the Awards and Recognition ceremony, honoring NGOs like Bhumi and Parivahan for their exemplary work.
