A Message of Hope: IIMB Launches NSRCEL-Incubated Mitti Café

IIM Bangalore recently inaugurated the NSRCEL-incubated Mitti Café on campus, a café operated by adults with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities. This initiative aligns with IIMB’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. With over 35 Mitti Cafés already in operation across various institutions, including Rashtrapati Bhavan, the café aims to promote economic independence and dignity for individuals from vulnerable communities.

Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, IIMB Director, emphasized the cafĂ©’s role in creating a supportive environment, stating that it represents IIMB’s ethos of making a positive societal impact. Alina Alam, CEO and Founder of Mitti CafĂ©, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to establish the cafĂ©, highlighting its significance in promoting awareness of disability inclusion. The inauguration featured performances by Mitti CafĂ© members, fostering a spirit of celebration and community involvement. This initiative exemplifies the power of inclusion and serves as a beacon of hope for societal change.


IIM Bangalore Launches Online Undergraduate Program in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship

IIM Bangalore has launched its first-ever undergraduate program in “Digital Business and Entrepreneurship,” to be delivered online through its IIMBx digital learning initiative. This three-year program, commencing in September 2024, aims to provide students with essential skills in digital technology and entrepreneurial management. Applications will open on June 15, 2024, with more details available at dbe.iimb.ac.in.

Led by Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, the program includes internship opportunities and practical projects to ensure real-world application. It seeks to empower students to become innovative entrepreneurs or contribute to the digital transformation of traditional businesses. The curriculum is designed to enhance creativity, risk-taking, and business acumen among graduates, preparing them for the evolving job market.

Additionally, the program will facilitate networking through collaborative projects and institutional events, creating valuable connections within the digital and entrepreneurial ecosystems. IIM Bangalore’s commitment to quality education positions this initiative as a significant step toward enhancing India’s higher education landscape.


Youth Entrepreneurship Takes Center Stage at IIM Bangalore

On July 28, 2024, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) hosted “Youth Udyami,” an event designed to empower aspiring young entrepreneurs. Organized by students from the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) and the Post Graduate Programme for Enterprise Management (PGPEM), the event attracted over 300 registrations, with 50 students from various schools in Bangalore shortlisted to present their innovative ideas.

Professor Amar Sapra, Chairperson of the EPGP, emphasized the importance of persistence and resilience for success in entrepreneurship. Participants showcased their concepts, including a community-driven green cycle initiative that creates jewelry from recycled materials and an online platform for puja planning.

The event included mentorship from IIMB students, enhancing participants’ business acumen and pitch preparation. The grand finale, “Prayaas Day,” is scheduled for February 2025, where ten finalists will be evaluated by IIMB faculty and industry leaders. “Youth Udyami” underscores IIMB’s dedication to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth.
