IIMB Alumni Office Event: IIMB Author Talk Series

IIMB Alumni Office hosted a new talk series titled Author Talk Series focused on alumni authors. The talk series focussed on their books, writing journey, motivations, and tips for other fellow alums who wish to write and author books.

This series was held on 16th Jan’21 in an online zoom session and was attended by book enthusiasts and aspiring writers. The guest panel consisted of authors Sandeep Das (PGP 2009) and Pavan Soni (FPM 2017) and was moderated by the Sushma R, Exec Asst, IIMBAA Office.

About the Authors:

Sandeep Das is a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He has been a strategy consultant for over 10 years, having worked with Accenture Strategy, Boston Consulting Group and Marico and has traversed most bylanes of India and Southeast Asia. After work, he is an avid writer. He is the author of the bestseller Yours Sarcastically, a book inspired by his reallife experience of interviewing 60 size-zero South Bombay women. Yours Sarcastically got rave reviews and was featured in the Times of India, Hindu, Asian Age, Business India and CNN IBN. It was long listed for the Crossword Economist Book Award. His second book, Satan’s Angels, is a corporate drama centred around the glitz, glamor and filth of corporate India.

He is a columnist with Fortune, Outlook Money and Businessworld having written over 100 columns for them. He writes at the intersection of consumer behavior, technology and behavioral psychology. He has contributed to numerous travel magazines.

Pavan Soni is an innovation evangelist by profession and a teacher by passion. He is the founder of Inflexion Point, a strategy and innovation consultancy. Apart from being a visiting faculty at IIM Bangalore and IIM Lucknow, Pavan has had consulting and mentoring engagements with leading companies, like Reliance, Tata Group, ITC, Flipkart, Accenture and Asian Paints. He specializes in the subjects of design thinking, strategic acumen and innovation culture.

Pavan is a mentor for NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore and Founder Institute, and a columnist with Entrepreneur magazine, Mint, Inc42, People Matters and YourStory. In 2016, he became the only Indian to have been shortlisted for the prestigious FT & McKinsey Bracken Bower Prize in the ‘Best Business Book of the Year’ category. He has also been invited five times to speak at TEDx.

Pavan did his electronics and communications engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, where he was the branch topper, and studied industrial engineering at NITIE Mumbai. He received his PhD from IIM Bangalore in corporate strategy and policy.
