IIMB Golden Jubilee – Calendar of Events
Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu to flag off IIMB’s Foundation Week celebrations on 26th October to mark the institute’s Golden Jubilee
The President will grace the celebrations with an address and the launch of a book on the IIMB campus as well as a film on IIMB; she will also virtually inaugurate a 50-hour relay walkathon
To mark the momentous occasion of IIM Bangalore’s Golden Jubilee, the institute is proud and honoured to host the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, on 26th October 2023, as part of IIMB’s Foundation Week celebrations.
The President will flag off the Golden Jubilee Foundation Week celebrations of IIM Bangalore on 26th October, with an address and the launch of a book on the IIMB campus as well as a film on IIMB. The ‘IIMB Anthem’ will also be launched on the same day. The events will also include the virtual inauguration of the 50-hour relay walkathon by the President of India.
The Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, will participate in the inauguration and address the gathering.
Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIM Bangalore, and Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, will speak on the occasion.
A host of activities are in store to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The events to be held on 27th October include PGP Scholarship Awards and Young Achievement Awards, felicitation of former employees, Staff Recreation Committee (SRC) prize distribution, cultural program by the IIMB community, inter-IIM Alumni Business Quiz Finale, Alumni Shark Tank Finale, etc.
On Foundation Day on 28th October, IIMB will host a meditation session by alumni, Director’s interaction with alumni, the Alumni Leadership Conclave – Corporate Excellence and presentation of Alumni Service Awards, the Director’s Foundation Day address, awards for long service, conclusion of the 50-hour relay walkathon, alumni singing contest organized by the Student Cultural Team, and more. The Foundation Day Lecture will be delivered by American Economist Prof. Rebecca M Henderson of the Harvard Business School.
Later in the evening of the same day, IIMB’s PGP alumna and noted classical vocalist Manasi Prasad and her group will present ‘Suvarna Sangeet’ – a grand music presentation by a 50-member ensemble bringing together a wide range of music genres, from Indian classical to Western classical with fusion and world music elements.
A Hindi play titled, ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ will be presented at the institute by the troupe ‘TheatreNama’, on 29th October. Written by actor-playwright-poet Piyush Mishra and directed by Aashish Rana, the play chronicles the thought process and experiences of the revolutionary hero of the Indian independence movement, Bhagat Singh.
The day will also feature the Alumni Life Fest and Alumni Stand-up Comedy, a program by EEP participants, the 100 Children Orchestra by the students of Sathya Sai Grama, and more.
