PhD Candidate Charu Rastogi Presents Research at Academy of Management 2024
Charu Rastogi, a PhD candidate in Entrepreneurship at IIM Bangalore, recently showcased her research at the prestigious Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, held from August 9-13, 2024. Her paper, titled “How Start-ups Navigate Environmental Jolts: A Dynamic Capabilities Perspective,” was co-authored with Dr. Srivardhini K Jha, also from the Entrepreneurship area at IIMB. The research explores how start-ups adapt and thrive in challenging environments using dynamic capabilities. This international platform provided Charu with the opportunity to present her findings to a global audience of scholars and professionals in the field of management and entrepreneurship.

Sonal Nayak, a doctoral student in the Strategy area at IIM Bangalore, presented her research at the prestigious Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, from August 9-13, 2024. Her paper, titled “Sustainability Liability? Individual Environmental Concerns and Startup Legitimacy,” delves into how environmental awareness impacts the legitimacy of startups. The research addresses a key issue in today’s business world, where startups must balance sustainability initiatives with their need for credibility. Sonal’s work contributes valuable insights to the growing discourse on sustainability and entrepreneurship. Presenting at this international conference provided her the opportunity to engage with top scholars and industry leaders from around the globe.
PhD Candidate Kunal Biswas Presents Research at Amitava Bose Memorial Workshop, IIM Calcutta

Kunal Biswas, a PhD student in the Economics area at IIM Bangalore, presented his research at the Amitava Bose Memorial Doctoral Workshop – SERI-D Lightning Talks, hosted by IIM Calcutta. His paper, titled “Fiscal-Monetary Interactions and Sovereign Bond Yields: Evidence from Speeches of Central Banks and Finance Ministries,” was co-authored with Dr. Srinivasan Murali and Dr. Abhinav Anand from IIM Bangalore, and Prof. Jalaj Pathak from IIM Lucknow. The study explores the complex relationship between fiscal and monetary policies and their impact on sovereign bond yields. Presenting at this prestigious workshop allowed Kunal to engage with scholars and peers, contributing to a deeper understanding of fiscal-monetary dynamics in economic research.
PhD Student Kapil Gupta Presents Research at 3rd Bayesian Nonparametrics Workshop, NUS Singapore

Kapil Gupta, a doctoral student in the Decision Sciences area at IIM Bangalore, presented his research at the 3rd Bayesian Nonparametrics (BNP) Networking Workshop, held at the National University of Singapore from July 30 to August 2, 2024. His paper, titled “A Divide-and-Conquer Approach for Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Large House Price Data from Greater London,” explores advanced techniques for analyzing extensive datasets. By using a divide-and-conquer method, Kapil’s research addresses challenges in processing large spatio-temporal datasets, offering new insights into house price trends in Greater London. Presenting at this international workshop provided Kapil an opportunity to share his innovative approach with leading experts in Bayesian nonparametrics.
Doctoral Candidate Mareeswaran M Wins Best Paper Award at IIM Ranchi Doctoral Conference 2024

Mareeswaran M, a doctoral student in the Finance and Accounting area at IIM Bangalore, was honored with the Best Paper award at the IIM Ranchi Doctoral Research Conference 2024. His award-winning paper, titled “Passive Ownership and Investment Efficiency,” was recognized for its contribution to the field. The conference took place on August 23-24, 2024.
Upon receiving the award, Mareeswaran expressed his gratitude to his Dissertation Advisory Committee Chair, Dr. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, for his valuable guidance, and to IIM Bangalore for its ongoing support throughout his research journey.
