SnackWise: PGP Students’ Startup Selected for NSRCEL Incubation

Akash Dhanania and Akshay Prashant, PGP ’25 students of IIM Bangalore, have achieved a significant milestone with their startup, SnackWise, being incubated at NSRCEL under the prestigious Campus Founders Program. The four-month program supports student entrepreneurs in developing and scaling their ventures through an immersive entrepreneurial journey.

SnackWise aims to redefine healthy eating with innovative, nutritious, and versatile products. Having excelled in national case competitions, the startup is well-positioned for growth. With NSRCEL’s resources, including mentoring, business development, and networking opportunities, the co-founders are set to turn their vision into reality.


IIMB PhD Scholar Muneer Kalliyil Research at IGIDR

Muneer Kalliyil, a doctoral scholar in Economics at IIM Bangalore, presented his research at the IGIDR PhD Colloquium-2024 in Mumbai. His study, “Does restricting access to credit affect learning outcomes? Evidence from a regulatory shock to microfinance in India,” examines how the 2010 suspension of microfinance in Andhra Pradesh impacted children’s education.

The findings reveal significant declines in learning outcomes, influenced by reduced household spending on education, nutrition, and maternal employment. Girls and younger children were most affected. This research offers valuable insights into the far-reaching socioeconomic impacts of limiting access to microfinance.


IIMB PhD Scholar Gopinath Annadurai Showcases Research at NEUDC 2024, USA

Gopinath Annadurai, a Public Policy doctoral student at IIM Bangalore, presented his research at the North East Universities Development Consortium (NEUDC) 2024 Conference on November 2-3, held at Northeastern University, Boston, USA. The NEUDC Conference, established in 1967, is a premier platform in development economics.

Gopinath’s study, titled Improving First-Generation College Students’ Education and Employment Outcomes: Effect of a Targeted Scholarship Program, explores the aspirations and challenges faced by first-generation college students. He examines how targeted policies, such as scholarships, can significantly enhance their education and career trajectories, offering valuable insights for policy formulation.


Kapil Gupta Wins Special Prize at IRMA’s Doctoral Colloquium

Kapil Gupta, a PhD scholar in Decision Sciences at IIM Bangalore, won the special prize for his paper, A Divide-and-Conquer Approach for Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Large House Price Data from Greater London, at IRMA’s Doctoral Colloquium on Management and Development (6-9 November 2024). Co-authored with Dr. Soudeep Deb, the paper was presented under the Advanced Research Paper Track.

Kapil expressed gratitude to the Doctoral Programme Office, Dr. Soudeep for his guidance, and Florintree Advisors Pvt. Ltd., which awarded him the Florintree Scholarship earlier this year, for their support in his research journey.


PGP ’25 Students Shine at RBI Innovation Hub’s Green Fintech Hackathon

Team BizAcers from IIM Bangalore’s PGP 2023-25 batch secured Rank 1 at RBI Innovation Hub’s Green Fintech Hackathon, earning recognition for their innovative platform, EcoFinance. As a Top 10 national solution, EcoFinance redefines green finance, promoting sustainable investments aligned with RBIH’s eco-conscious vision.

Their impactful idea also secured pre-incubation offers from IIT Jodhpur’s Technology Innovation & Startup Center and IIIT Bangalore Innovation Center, in collaboration with RBIH.

Team members Akshay Prashant, Akash Dhanania, and Padma Tashi reflected, “This journey enhanced our skills in product management and innovation, helping us address India’s sustainability goals through fintech solutions.”
