Prof. PN Thirunarayana Classroom Naming
We are happy to let you know that the batch of PGP 86 has initiated naming a classroom (L 12) after Prof. PN Thirunarayana (Late), the iconic marketing professor who passed away in 2011, by  seeding Rs 80 lakhs for this cause. We plan to raise Rs 2 crores for this project and seek generous donations from alums to help us raise funds and honor our teachers.As you are aware, alumni had come forward with a request to name a classroom (L 11) after one of our iconic teachers Prof. Vatsala Nagarajan and the classroom naming event was held on Gurupurnima day on 27th July 2018 at the campus. The class of PGP 92 and individual alums such as Rahul Shukla (PGP 91), Prashant Jain(PGP 91), Ashish Parthasarathy(PGP 89), and many others made substantial contributions to help us raise funds for this noble cause. This helped IIMB raise Rs 2 crores from alumni for this wonderful cause. Please check out these videos –

He joined IIMB in April 1977 as an Assistant Professor in the Marketing area. He retired as Professor in 2005 but continued his association as Visiting Faculty till 2010. He was undoubtedly one of the most popular teachers who inspired students across decades to take up marketing as a career. He had a terrific class presence and combined style, erudition and content in his lectures that was distinctive and awe inspiring. View Video Clip: A short clip wherein Prof. PN Thirunarayana is talking about the PGSEM course in 2006 The naming rights for classroom L12 (the popular ground floor classrooms that are opposite each other) has been earmarked at Rs 200 lakhs. The names of donors who contribute Rs 20 lakhs or more shall be displayed outside the classroom. This can be contributed by individual alums or through batch contributions. Other donors (less than Rs 20 lakhs) can also contribute to this cause and avail of 100% tax deduction u/s 80G. |
