PGP 1991 – Three Decades On, Still Connected
The PGP 1991 batch returned to campus for their reunion, bringing together old friends, familiar faces and memories from a very different IIMB. Three decades on, the campus may have changed, but the warmth and camaraderie of the batch clearly remain.
Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Dean, Administration, and faculty of Finance & Accounting, and Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge, IIMB, and faculty of Decision Sciences, spent time with the alumni and shared perspectives on IIMB’s journey and its ambitions for the future.
Prof. Dinesh spoke about the Institute’s expanding academic portfolio, its growing entrepreneurship ecosystem and its plans for the next generation of students, including the new undergraduate programme and campus. He also highlighted IIMB’s growing international footprint and the many opportunities for alumni to engage with the Institute.
The conversation was also an invitation to stay connected in meaningful ways—through mentorship, sharing expertise, offering internships, supporting students and contributing to the Institute’s evolving ecosystem.
For the alumni, however, the reunion was as much about the past as the future: catching up after years, reliving campus memories, sharing a few laughs at how much—and how little—has changed, and rediscovering the sense of belonging that comes with having once called IIMB home.
Some journeys take you far from campus. A reunion reminds you that they can also bring you back.
PGP 2011 – Fifteen Years Later, Still at Home
The PGP 2011 batch recently returned to campus for their 15-year reunion—and it was a day filled with old friendships, familiar faces, stories from “those days”, plenty of laughter, and the inevitable realisation that 15 years somehow went by far too quickly!
In a conversation with Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean, Faculty, IIMB, alumni got a glimpse of how much the Institute has changed since their student days. From IIMB’s continued standing among India’s leading management institutions and its growing global reputation, to the expansion of academic programmes, new degree offerings and a much larger student community, the IIMB of today is considerably bigger than the one they left behind in 2011.
Prof. Sourav spoke about some of the most significant developments, including IIMB’s foray into undergraduate education, the new campus taking shape, and the growth of NSRCEL and its entrepreneurship ecosystem. He also highlighted IIMB’s expanding footprint in online education, with courses reaching millions of learners across nearly 200 countries.
For the alumni, though, the numbers and new initiatives were only part of the story. The real highlight was being back where it all began—walking familiar paths, reconnecting with batchmates, rediscovering old stories and creating a few new ones along the way.
Fifteen years later, the campus may have changed, the Institute may have grown, and everyone may have acquired a few more responsibilities (and perhaps a few more grey hairs!), but the camaraderie of the PGP 2011 batch clearly remains intact.
Here’s to old memories, new stories, and friendships that continue well beyond the classroom.
EPGP 2021 – Five Years Later, Back on Campus
The EPGP Class of 2021 recently returned to IIM Bangalore for their five-year reunion, bringing alumni back to campus to reconnect with batchmates, revisit familiar places and reflect on how much has changed since their student days.
A highlight of the reunion was a session with Prof. Amar Sapra and Prof. Sourav Mukherji, who shared updates on the evolution of the EPGP programme and the exciting directions in which the programme and the Institute are moving.
The alumni also had an opportunity to interact with the current EPGP batch, exchanging perspectives and hearing their questions and experiences. For the returning alumni, the interaction offered a reminder of how the learning experience continues to evolve while retaining the core spirit of the programme.
The reunion was organised by the EPGP Alumni Office, with Utanka Sarma and Preetha K acknowledged by the batch for putting together the gathering and creating an opportunity for classmates to reconnect.
Five years on, the journeys may have taken the batch in different directions, but the EPGP bond remains.
