Yamini 2025
The SPIC MACAY IIM Bangalore chapter, in collaboration with Brigade Foundation and the Indian Music Experience Museum, and with support from Federal Bank, hosted Yamini 2025—a dusk-to-dawn celebration of Indian classical music and dance. Held from January 25 to 26, 2025, at the Open-Air Theatre on campus, the 21st edition of this festival featured renowned artists and enthralled audiences with captivating performances.
The event was made even more special with the presence of the PGP 1985 batch, who celebrated their reunion at IIM Bangalore and joined the Yamini festivities, reliving cherished memories while immersing themselves in the cultural extravaganza.
The evening opened with a Veena recital by Vidwan D. Balakrishna (SNA Awardee), accompanied by B.S. Prashanth on Mridangam and Shamith Gowda on Ghatam. A mesmerizing flute and tabla duet followed, performed by Pt. Ronu Majumdar (SNA Awardee, Guinness World Record holder) and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee (SNA Awardee, Padma Nominee).
The festival continued with a vibrant Kathakali presentation by Kalamandalam Balasubramaniam (SNA Awardee) and his troupe. Later, Vidwan Saketharaman (Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Awardee) delivered an enthralling Carnatic vocal recital, accompanied by Nishanth Chandran on violin, Delhi Sairam on Mridangam, and Rajashekar on Morsing.
As dawn approached, the night concluded with a soul-stirring Dhrupad performance by Padma Shri Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, accompanied by Mohan Shyam Sharma on Pakhavaj, along with John Haywood, Rinku Lamba, and Jagannath Rao on Tanpura.
Distinguished guests from the IIMB community, including Col. S.D. Aravendan (Chief Administrative Officer), Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan (Chairperson, Real Estate Research Initiative), and Prof. Rajluxmi V Murthy (Chairperson, Student Welfare), attended the event, reaffirming IIMB’s commitment to preserving India’s classical arts heritage.
