IIMB Celebrates Distinguished Alumnus Dr. K. Radhakrishnan on His Appointment as Chair of IIT Bombay’s Board

The IIM Bangalore community is proud to celebrate Dr. K. Radhakrishnan (PGP 1976), Padma Bhushan Awardee and former Chairman of ISRO, on his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Bombay. A visionary leader whose contributions have shaped India’s space programme, Dr. Radhakrishnan’s career continues to inspire students, researchers and alumni across institutions.

His appointment marks yet another milestone in a distinguished journey marked by scientific excellence, national service and transformative leadership. As an alumnus of IIMB, he exemplifies the Institute’s ethos of impact-driven leadership and public purpose.

Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Former Director of IIM Bangalore, Receives IIT Kanpur’s Distinguished Alumni Award 2025

We are pleased to share that Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan (MSc5/PHY/1986), Professor of Strategy at IIM Bangalore, has been honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Award 2025 by IIT Kanpur. This recognition celebrates his outstanding academic leadership and his significant contributions to management education, research, and institutional development.

Prof. Krishnan’s journey—from studying physics at IIT Kanpur to leading two of India’s premier business schools—reflects a career marked by intellectual depth and national impact. He has served as Director of both IIM Bangalore and IIM Indore, guiding the institutes toward greater global visibility and academic excellence. His scholarship in strategy, innovation, and leadership has informed policy, shaped industry practice, and inspired generations of students and professionals.

Widely regarded as one of India’s most influential management thinkers, and featured in the Thinkers50 India list, Prof. Krishnan continues to contribute actively to national committees, corporate boards, and thought leadership forums.

Sangeet Paul Choudary Wins 2025 Thinkers50 Strategy Award for ‘Reshuffle’

IIM Bangalore alumnus Sangeet Paul Choudary (PGP 2006), celebrated author and globally recognised strategy thinker, has been awarded the 2025 Thinkers50 Strategy Award at the Guildhall in London for Reshuffle, honoured as the year’s most impactful strategic idea.

Reshuffle reframes technological upheavals as coordination revolutions, arguing that AI’s true value lies not in automation, but in how economic systems reorganise around new capabilities. The book intentionally serves as the spark for a larger, ongoing conversation rather than a closed argument.

In his acceptance remarks, Sangeet acknowledged the global community of leaders, researchers and practitioners who have engaged with, challenged and expanded these ideas. He emphasised that the recognition belongs collectively to all who have carried the conversation forward.

As global dialogue around AI, platforms and economic transformation accelerates, Sangeet notes that Reshuffle is “only just getting started.”


Rashmi Mohanty Felicitated by Carl Lewis for Completing 15 Delhi Half Marathons

IIM Bangalore alumna Rashmi Mohanty (PGP 1995), a senior finance leader and Chief Financial Officer, was recently felicitated by Olympic legend Carl Lewis for becoming the first woman to complete 15 editions of the Delhi Half Marathon. The recognition holds special significance for Rashmi, who grew up admiring Carl Lewis and other sprint icons, and never anticipated that her long-distance running accomplishments would bring her face-to-face with a childhood hero.

Reflecting on the milestone, she highlighted a core principle that has guided both her professional and personal journey: while motivation and inspiration may set the direction, it is discipline and consistency that ultimately lead to meaningful achievement.

Her accomplishment stands as a testament to perseverance and commitment — qualities that continue to inspire peers and fellow alumni alike. Rashmi’s journey reinforces the value of showing up with purpose, both in leadership and in life.


IIMB Alumnus Vikrant Pande to Speak at the Bangalore Literature Festival 2025

IIM Bangalore alumnus Vikrant Pande (PGP 1992), acclaimed translator and author, will be speaking at the Bangalore Literature Festival (BLF) 2025, as part of the session titled “Akashvani: There’s Something in the AIR.” The panel, featuring Abdul Rasheed, Neelesh Kulkarni, and Vikrant Pande in conversation with Udayan Mitra, will take place on 6 December 2025 at Freedom Park.

Widely recognised for bringing seminal Marathi, Hindi and other Indian-language works to English readers, Vikrant Pande has contributed significantly to contemporary Indian literary translation. His body of work bridges linguistic and cultural gaps, enabling wider access to regional literature and enriching India’s multilingual literary landscape.

His participation at BLF reflects his growing influence as a translator and storyteller, and marks yet another milestone in his journey as a champion of Indian-language writing.

Prof. Sreelata Jonnalagedda to Captain India’s First All-Women Masters Team at the World Beach Ultimate Championships

India is set to mark a significant sporting milestone this November, as the country fields its first-ever all-women Masters team at the World Beach Ultimate Championships in Portugal. Leading this pioneering squad is Prof. Sreelata Jonnalagedda, faculty in the Marketing area at IIM Bangalore, who first encountered the sport through her students.

The team brings together professionals, artists, educators, and entrepreneurs—united by a shared passion for Ultimate Frisbee and the camaraderie the sport fosters. As they train rigorously under the Chennai sun, Prof. Jonnalagedda reflects on the unique spirit of the group, noting that the “bonding and sisterhood are unparalleled,” and that an all-women team enables players to step confidently into diverse roles on and off the field.

Alongside her sporting leadership, Prof. Jonnalagedda is a respected scholar whose research spans market design, freemium pricing, and digital marketing, with a focus on understanding incentives and market behaviour.

Plaeto Co-Founder and IIMB Alumnus Ravi Kallayil (PGP 1994) Wins Silver at NACRA 2025

We are pleased to congratulate alumnus Ravi Kallayil (PGP 1994), Co-Founder of Plaeto, on the recognition received by the case “PLAETO: The ‘Multiplay’ Disruption in the Indian Athletic Footwear Market,” which has been awarded the Silver Award at the 2025 North American Case Research Association (NACRA) Conference. The case was co-authored by Prof. Ram Subramanian, Dr. Sonia Mehrotra and fellow collaborators, with Ravi featured as the case protagonist.

This achievement highlights the growing leadership of Indian entrepreneurial ventures in global academic discourse, and reflects the significant contributions made by alumni-led organisations in shaping contemporary business understanding.
