All-night concert at IIMB – Yamini 2020
A night unleashed, a night to devour, from dusk to dawn !!
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore hosted the 17th edition of ‘Yamini’, an all-night music and dance concert, at its amphitheater on 25th Jan 2020 from 6.30 pm on Saturday. The concert, organized by Spicmacay’s IIMB Chapter, concluded at 6.30 am on 26th Jan 2020.
Yamini is a confluence of various Indian music and dance forms and consists of back-to-back concerts/performances by artists of renown from all over the country.
The event saw a mix of artists, from senior to recent Sangeet Natak Yuva Puraskar awardees.
Sixteen students studying different programs at IIM-B worked for eight months to put the concert together. Faculty coordinator of the event is Prof Tirthatanmoy Das, who teaches economics and social sciences at the institute.
Dhrithi Mahadevan, a doctoral student at IIMB specializing in marketing was the key organizer of Yamini 2020. The dusk to dawn events – The Carnatic vocal concert, Hindustani vocal, Carnatic instrumental, Hindustani instrumental and Dance summarized the program.
The line-up this year was – Abhishek Raghuram for Carnatic vocal, Vidwan Shashank Subramanyam for Carnatic instrumental (flute), Rajan & Sajan Misra for Hindustani vocal, Shubhendra Rao for Hindustani instrumental (sitar), and Guru Keremane Shivananda Hegde (Yakshagana).
SPICMACAY or the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth is a non-political nationwide voluntary movement that organizes programs of classical music and dance, folk arts, crafts, yoga, classic cinema, etc. SPICMACAY IIMB is committed to the cause of introducing the youth to the traditional Indian culture with the hope that the wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and beauty that it encompasses will become an integral part of their lives.
