Parenting in the Age of AI: Reflections from Dr. Pavan Soni (PhD 2016)

Innovation evangelist and IIM Bangalore alumnus Dr. Pavan Soni (PhD 2016) offers a timely perspective on what it means to parent in an age where artificial intelligence is increasingly woven into everyday life. As an author, columnist and founder of Inflexion Point, Pavan notes that while AI promises efficiency, many parents continue to feel stretched—caught between demanding work cultures and digitally immersed children.
In his recent BW Businessworld article, he distills the challenge into three grounded practices:
1) Structure your day into clear time buckets,
2) Focus on increasing the quantity of time with children—quality naturally emerges, and
3) Treat technology as an assistant, not a decision-maker.
His reflections encourage parents to create intentional routines and reclaim balance in a technology-heavy world. Above all, he reminds us that discipline and consistency—not tools—shape meaningful family experiences.
