IIMB Orators Club Event – Youth Leadership Program June 2025

The IIMB Orators Club is one of the longest-running and most active alumni initiatives at IIMB. It celebrated its 15th anniversary with great pomp and show last year. The IIMB Orators Club offers an incredible program designed by Toastmasters International every year for the children of IIM Bangalore alumni aged 14 to 18, known as the Youth Leadership Program. The program helps participants to hone their communication skills, servant leadership, and networking. It is an eight-week program that focuses on building confidence and improving public speaking, listening, and leadership skills.

The latest edition of the Youth Leadership Program offered by the IIMB Orators Club is YLP’25, which was unique due to the scale and grandeur. We opened the registration in late April, and within hours, we were flooded with hundreds of registrations from enthusiastic alumni who wanted their children to participate. We had to close it at 31 due to the overwhelming response, even though we had a max of 25. These 31 youth leaders received support and nurturing from 11 mentors. 8 Sundays starting 4th May until 22nd June were the exciting Sundays we have experienced. 6 education sessions, 70+ speeches, 70+ impromptu speaking sessions, and 40+ leadership roles transformed these kids into youth leaders exuding confidence.

On 22nd June, we concluded the session with a grand celebration. The IIMB Orators Club, under the coordinatorship of Sakti Prasad Bagchi and Akhilesh Yaduvanshi, ran the entire program. It was guided by Geetha Venkatesh, president of the IIMB Orators Club.

It was funded, guided, and supported by the Office of Alumni Relations. Utanka Sharma, the Head of Alumni Relations, graciously inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of communication in the era of GenAI. The event strategist and Alumni Office Professional, Ankita Maslekar, has been the key support to help ensure every part of this eight-week program and all activities before and after the event were carefully evaluated and designed.

Like they say, it takes a village to raise a successful citizen; we needed a village of extremely enthusiastic and servant leaders to help shape these 31 youth leaders.

A big cheer goes out to the IIMB Alumni and the Alumni Office, and we encourage everyone to join the IIMB Orators Club, which not only helps you enhance your public speaking skills but also helps you cherish as well as pay back to your alma mater.Â
